1988 Olds Calais 3.0 6cyl auto. Where is fuel pump? How to replace it?
I was informed of 2 possible locations for fuel pump on the 1988 Olds Calais. (1) Located within top of gas tank next to access from the trunk. (2) Top of gas tank, and must drop cistern to replace.
What to do?

The fuel pump is located in the fuel reservoir.It is electrically powered by very low voltage.You must remove the reservoir and while you are replacing the pump, replace the 'fuel screen' at pump also.This may have be the cause for the pump to run bad as they filter the fuel past going into the pump and usually get clogged by the ruins in container.
i have a 1988 olds delta 88 and i amount yours is in matching place as mine,in the cistern.on mine,you have to drop the reservoir.
Drop the tank and replace the pump. Not confident if you don't have a move up and a transmission jack to put beneath the tank.
Throw the piece away...Buy a Aston or a nice Bentley.
dude you might as well cry very soon., It's a booger of a job. Raise the saloon on 4 jack stands for safety. Put a board on a larger floor jack and consequently unhook the straps and lower it down and then replace it. You will hold to take precision removing the locking plate to take out the fuel pump, one spark can spell disaster. If your up to the brave. I bet the gas tank is full of fuel too? Boy are you going to hold fun. The dang thing sits right lower than the back form.
Check under the flipside seat. Usually nearby is an access cover there - down to the top of the fuel container. if you remove that top plate on the tank - you will probably find the pump. BEFORE you do that you should trace the fuel lines to net sure the pump is not mounted externally somewhere.
your close,,fuel pump is inside the tank,mounted contained by top,to replace fuel must be drained from tank and later remove tank,,,if no access to a lift up is easiest if you can roll rear of sports car onto ramps to gain as much space as posible,because you will stipulation the room to drop tank,,,masses discount parts houses have the videotape style pumps,,,,but best results will be to replace the entire pump& float assy with ac/delco parts,,,,,,virtuous luck
