Does anyone enjoy a dutiful mental oral starter for year 5 involving nouns and limits?

I need to to a MOS next to my year 5 class about nouns and perimeter. Does anyone enjoy any good games or comings and goings?
Answers:    Photocopy a set of 'flip flaps' - large rectangles. Get the children to fold them surrounded by order to show different areas (eg 'show me 10 square centimetres', in a minute show me 4'). Then repeat for perimeter ('make a shape that have a perimeter of 15 cm.' 'Now create one with a boundary greater than 12 centimetres').

What about using chocolate.. I skilled grade fours using chocolate blocks, they soon learn it fast!
I have my students do hands on things approaching measure the fringe of their desk, their books, the bulletin board, etc.

Then when you do area, pass them one inch squares or one foot squares or whatever squares, and own them fill within the surface with them.

Have them dictation their findings in a chart beside two columns: area and edge. Have them color and decorate the chart.
They'll achieve the idea!
