You can bequeath examples of Lance Armstrong who was down next to Cancer (better check what?) but fought back to win the Tour de France 7 times. Muhammad Ali who fought racism and apartheid to become a victor boxer. You have to contribute examples of human grit, determination and will power.
Gandhi can be another example of such resilience.
