I tell my chihuahua ( crystal) to "drop it" and afterwards I snap my fingers and she dropps anything she has contained by her mouth. it doesn't matter if she is a long ways away fom me. she is fundamentally obediant!
My nan and granddad's jack Russel bites my granddad's feet when he walk. Now that's a little terrirer!!lol
no
Nope, it would NEVER drop anything. I remember mine grab onto the elbow of my jumper and sagging there for 20 minutes as I walk around. Persistant b'stards!
They also make flawless yo-yos.
I have indistinguishable problem too. What i do is have a treat within one hand and his toy within the other and i ask him to drop and when he finally does i praise him and give him the treat he will soon cram that if he drops he will get the treat! The best entity is not to react because if you shout or fight with him he is getting the attention he requests. If he does not listen then stop playing beside him he will soon learn. Hope this help good luck
Our JR (he's presently 8 yrs old) will drop things if you ask him 20 or 30 times! :s
The Jack Russell Terrier that we have is as dumb as a box of rock's but we still love him dearly...
my jack drops on command,
the most clever dog I've owned,
worked out that he know at least 35 words.so far.
Not a hit and miss will they let step, they are too proud! mine would bite anyones fingers off and preserve hold of what's in it's mouth.
end week the wee critter took on an old english sheep dog... straight for the throat, it submitted consequently he walked sour about 10 foot tall the little swine x
i hold a 14 year old jack and the best breed i've ever have. she's protective of me barks close to hell when someone knocks at the door ancestors often deduce i've got a rotwieler until they see her! but at the failure of the day she's my little babe-in-arms!
My jr x is a typical terrier and would have loved a working go living on a farm etc.She have killed and caught rats and rabbits, which is her automatic instinct and is very corageus which is the terrier breed down to a t,they enjoy no fear and are extraordinarily keen, exciteable tenatious breeds. My dog doesn't stop bark and no she doesn't drop anything on command, when you pick something up shes still hanging on and rag it lol.A big dog in a short time body, full of spirit but wouldn't be with out her.
Yes - but when you vote 'command', you do mean yell at the top of your voice with a bright red facade, don't you? And when you say 'drop', you do parsimonious 'as slowly as a snail'?
I could even take beef bones stale him and still have adjectives my fingers, but I started the training when he was 8 weeks elderly, and it involved swapping what he had for a piece of cheese. Then I give him back anything he had. Trickery! He be fooled into thinking I wasn't going to nick anything rotten him.
The one thing I slipshod on was the 'down'. He would sit, or stand. He clearly thought I be mad for asking.
we hold 4 wolfhound lurchers. the wife has trained them to drop on command, and return to the whistle... it looks stunning, but what they dont know is shes got a pocket full of dog biscuits... and teh dogs arent daft..stupid possibly...
pavlov knew a item or two...
I have a Jack Russel, he is reluctant to drop items on command but usually does within the end, he is so docile I own never ever heard him growl, and I own a 3 year old grandaughter who chases him around. He is massively active and loves playing fetch next to his ball, he drops it at our foot, sits while we throw it again and off he go at 100 miles per hour. He is eight now so he will soon slow down, but I would repugnance to be without him, he is the best dog I hold ever had.
I have a Jack Russell not so long ago. Oh it dropped on command alright. she pooed all over the place, would show no inclination to walk to the door, run round in circles, or yap to want to go out. She would simply squat, whenever, and it was other too late to seize her outside. She would be taken for a long walk and still come contained by and get down. I have to get rid because she be stinking the house out.
Your kidding! lol...our jack is a year weak and he's the best dog we've every had. Hes loving and friendly and playful. most ancestors are scared of him cos they cogitate JR's are nippy but not all. Great Breed the J.R's
i hold one and that is exactly what im gonna educate her to do ...my lab drops the ball when you read aloud drop it but thats as close as i can prob get .. drop is such an historic command though because my jack russell gets into soo much trouble ( but ya duh thats the nice of dog) shes a lil trash picker
My first JRT wouldn't drop her stick until she was organized. The one I have in a minute is quite funny. As soon as someone is awake she get her ball and follows you around until you any kick it or pick it up for her, if you don't she will toss it up and entrap it until you do. If you sit down she jumps up and puts the bubble on your knee. She is approaching this until we all walk to bed. She even drops the ball surrounded by the bath for my hubby to throw it while he is contained by it. Best dogs in the world. Mine "PIP" is unbelievably good beside kids, maybe a bit to friendly.
Hiya Landgirl
similar to you i also have have, and still have Jack Russell's for over 30yrs can't dream of my life short 1of the little blighters, but boy do i love this breed of dog, at the moment i have a 14yr ancient Staff Bull Terrier (*****) 2, 12 month old brother and sister Jack Russell's, and 4 cats, they adjectives get on great together. My little Russell's are great near commands, but obviously this has come beside 30yrs of have dogs, and I'm still study, if i wanted a dog that would submit my every command, i would have a German Shepherd, Labrador, collie, etc. different breeds for different requests i suppose, but if your like me and you resembling a bit of a challenge, Russell's win every time... I own had 3 Jack Russell's surrounded by the past, and own 2 with me in a minute, and do you know what?? each and every 1 of them are different.
Your a women of my own heart, bless ya hun.. :-)
I own a Scottish terrier and he is very similar. Terriers as I am sure you know are really stubborn and aggressive. I would get a book on training complex to train dogs.
