How can i PICO the interrogate, why cant i use my mobile phone within hospital?
hypothetical question asked by a hospital merciful that needs to be put within the PICO style sackett et al 1997
Answers:
the sole reason why you cannot is due to actual evidence that mobiles cause interferences to essential equipement hence the polite notices ensure adjectives mobiles are switched off whilst on premises ok hope this assures you takecare and own a great christmas kind regard jon
Mobile phones really mess up sensative equipment, never mind "supporting evidence" its true.
I wont reveal the nature of my work, but theres the potential for unbelievably bad things to occur, anything from false alarms to the total shutdown / malfunction of equipment. When peoples lifes depend on the said equipment best not to allow mobiles eh lol
Mobile phones allegedly can't be used contained by hospitals due to the long held belief that they interfere with hospital equipment eg cardiac monitors, intensive assistance , theatre equipment etc. There is however hugely little evidence to support this claim and to date there have not been a single reported shield of an adverse event that can be definitely attributed to the use of mobile phones within hospitals.
However because of the small possibility of this happening it is prudent to play it safe and not use your phones within certain areas of the Hospital e.g cardiac, respiratory, resuscitation, the stage or A&E areas. Having said this you will find many medical staff will use mobiles surrounded by these areas because they know it will not affect that piece of equipment, you may not have this practice so don't take risks (Infact surrounded by some hospitals staff can use their phones anywhere as long as they are more than 1m from any electrical equipment).

This issue may cease to be appropriate in a few years as newer and more robust equipment become available though with a change strapped NHS I'll not bet on it.
